JD NXTGEN Derbyshire takes on McGoldrick

On Wednesday night our very own Craig Derbyshire will fight Sean McGoldrick in the JD NXTGEN show at York Hall in London, broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Sean McGoldrick is a 26 year old from Newport, Wales and a former Commonwealth Gold medalist.  In an interview with Sky Sports McGoldrick said “At the minute, the bantamweight division is so hot, and I really want to push myself.”

Almond Boxing Academy News spoke to Craig Derbyshire earlier today to see how he was feeling ahead of tonight’s fight.  He was clearly in the zone as he prepares to get in the ring.  A man of few words, he summed it up succinctly – he’s simply “ready to go”.

As Welshman Sean McGoldrick looks to extend his unbeaten record to 6 victories, tonight’s fight promises to be one to watch with Steve Wood from VIP Boxing previously stating that

Craig Derbyshire is not a journey man he’s a Danger man.”

Head Coach at Almond Boxing Academy, Niall Almond, described tonight’s impending fight as “business as usual”.  A man who is clearly confident in his protege’s ability.

Derbyshire rocks top 10 fights of 2017

In June 2017 Derbyshire, from Bentley, Doncaster, fought the then unbeaten Anthony Smith for the super flyweight Central Area title at Leigh Sports Village.  Craig won the fight which was subsequently voted by Boxing News as one of the top 10 fights of the year.
