It’s a busy weekend for Almond Boxing Academy. On Saturday night Harry Matthews fights Pádraig McCrory in Northern Ireland and on Sunday two of our amateur boxers will fight locally.
Belfast Bout with Pádraig McCrory
Harry Matthews will be travelling to Belfast, Northern Ireland to fight against Pádraig McCrory. The Irishman has 3 knock outs in his 6 fight career. The super middleweights will battle it out over 4 rounds. Matthews is primed and ready to go after his fight against Darryl Sharp was postponed due to a tragic fatal stabbing outside of the Middleton Arena in Manchester.

Meanwhile in Crowle, Jamie Ferguson is fighting his fifth fight. The amateur boxer, from Almond Boxing Academy, has won 3 of his 4 previous fights.
Another amateur also competing at Crowle from Almond Boxing Academy is 15 year old Mathew Featherstone. This promises to be an exciting fight. Both Mathew and his opponent are fighting for the first time. Additionally, both boxers weigh 60kg.
Speaking to Almond Boxing Academy News, Head Coach Niall Almond said “This is a perfect match. Fingers crossed this weekend will bring 3 wins for the academy and the lads.”
Billed as the “Summer Smash”, the weigh in at Crowle Community Hall is to begin at 12 pm and finishe at 1.30 pm with the boxing beginning at 2 pm. Tickets are £10 per adult and £5 per child, you are able to pre-book or pay on the door.
